Our AppNexus Impact Steering Committee meets on a regular basis and includes cross-functional leaders and representatives throughout our organization. Our mission is to create a global community within AppNexus around civic participation and positive social change. We believe this will drive innovation and better business outcomes through improved employee engagement, more productive dialogue and attraction and retention of top talent. This committee is chaired by our SVP, General Counsel, Nithya Das.
We leverage AppNexus’ assets – whether that’s our Razzle Dazzle auditorium, our workforce’s technology expertise or our office space - to help our community partners and affinity groups. AppNexus has been a longtime supporter of Girls Who Code including holding a GWC summer program at AppNexus but also hosting their staff in our office space. We also support She’s the First, an organization that provides scholarships to girls in low-income countries, fostering first-generation graduates. Many of the community partners and non-profits that we work with have been referred to us by individual AppNexians. We are always looking for new partners to work with and help.
AppNexus Impact's Technology for Good program currently focuses on leveraging our platform to serve Public Service Announcements (PSAs) for non-profit organizations. The goal of this program is to help non-profit partners raise awareness and engagement around social issues through advertising.
When a publisher sends us an impression for which we have no demand, we serve an ad for a nonprofit. We use inventory that would otherwise go to waste and put it to use promoting good causes that AppNexians care about and that are relevant in our own communities and the markets where we do business. This also helps our publisher clients maintain a consistent user experience, by serving ads instead of blank spaces - so it's a real win-win for everyone.
Most nonprofits in the PSA program have been referred to us by individual AppNexians. The program is very open to ideas about what causes we should work with.

As a leading internet technology company, we believe that we have the ability and the obligation to advocate for social change by supporting public policy and legal reforms aligned to our employee affinity groups and AppNexus’ mission and values. We are frequent advocates for women’s rights and LGTBQ rights. In the past, we have joined in amicus briefs advocating for holding the Defense of Marriage Act, an act which limits the rights of marriage to opposite-sex unions, unconstitutional. We are also frequent supporters of other topics relevant to our employee base ranging from immigration advocacy to stock option tax reform.
