TORONTO - AppNexus, the world leader in real-time advertising technology, is opening its Canadian headquarters in Toronto and has appointed digital advertising executive Heather Forrester as Country Manager. Forrester is well known in the Canadian advertising community, having recently served as a key player on Google Canada’s retail vertical team, and will be responsible for the overall development and expansion of AppNexus’ business in Canada.
Already a major player in the Canadian ad tech market, AppNexus was selected early this year by CBC/Radio-Canada, Rogers Media and Shaw Media to provide the ad technology for CPAX, the Canadian Premium Audience Exchange. Other important Canadian clients of AppNexus include the Globe and Mail; eyeReturn Marketing; Mediative, a division of Yellow Pages Group; Microsoft Advertising, Canada; Olive Media, a division of Torstar; and Redux Media.
AppNexus has a strong Canadian connection through its President, Michael Rubenstein, who hails from Toronto, has a deep understanding of its business landscape and is instrumental in forging relationships with AppNexus clients in Canada. Rubenstein completed his BA at McGill University, and worked in Canada for a number of years before pursuing his MBA at Columbia.
“Canada is an important and forward-thinking media market, and we are finding a great deal of demand for cutting-edge technologies to power the growth of digital advertising,” said Michael Rubenstein, president of AppNexus. “Heather Forrester has fantastic experience and strong industry relationships, which will help drive our clients’ success.”
In addition to Forrester’s role with Google, she previously held senior sales and marketing positions at Syncapse Corporation, Yahoo! and Bell Enterprise Solutions.
“Heather Forrester is going to be a valuable asset for AppNexus and its Canadian clients,” said Matt Thornton, Head of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships at Shaw Media. “She’s very well-regarded in the digital advertising ecosystem in this market and can bring excellent experience and insight to bear regarding real-time bidding and its promise.”
“I’m very excited to be working with AppNexus to help position the company for growth in Canada,” said Heather Forrester, Country Manager, AppNexus Canada. “AppNexus’ current partnerships in this market are amazing and I’m looking forward to helping our clients capitalize on the latest technologies in this space.”
AppNexus intends to open the Canadian headquarters in Toronto in Q4 2012 with hires largely in sales and global services teams.
